Introduction to DCL’s eFactory Dangerous Goods Data Management Tool

As a best-in-class third-party logistics provider for some of the world’s leading consumer electronics organizations, DCL Logistics continues to provide cutting-edge tools and technologies that provide virtually flawless operational execution in the delivery of our customers’ shipments. One of those technologies is DCL’s proprietary order fulfillment and inventory management platform: eFactory.
Through eFactory, DCL clients can manage and monitor their entire order fulfillment and inventory process in one place. It provides real-time insights into operational KPIs and performance at all seven DCL Logistics’ fulfillment locations.

What are Dangerous Goods?

Regulation and compliance requires potentially hazardous goods to be properly classified, packaged, marked, and labeled before they are shipped and moved as freight. These goods can vary widely, but include lithium batteries, and battery powered devices, aerosols, oxygen cylinders, and flammable materials. Because many consumer electronics have lithium batteries included, and a large majority of DCL Logistics’ companies products are consumer electronics, DCL is well-versed in the procedures to correctly and safely transport dangerous goods.

New Feature in eFactory: Dangerous Goods Data Management

Just launched in DCL’s eFactory app is a simple way to track specifically dangerous goods products. DCL clients can now see and archive all of the necessary specifications that will govern how DCL Logistics will ship these specific products that must comply with critical and stringent regulations.

Once a product has a designated SKU number and is cited “Dangerous Goods” (DG) within DCL’s enterprise resource planning (ERP), it will be trackable in the eFactory portal. Companies who use eFactory will have visibility on all DG specifications, and can sort and track data for all SKUs that are categorized by battery category, battery configuration, or battery type.

The data contained in DCL’s eFactory Dangerous Goods Data Management Tool integrates with DCL’s iVerify tool on our fulfillment lines. When the order is scanned at the fulfillment verify station, instructions are immediately provided to the operator that informs the operator what Dangerous Goods labeling needs to be applied to each individual outbound package.

What DCL Clients are Saying About eFactory

“I’ve been very pleased with eFactory, in terms of its ease of use and the reporting that’s available through it. It’s a user friendly tool, and it’s the way I would expect logistics to work in this day and age. There haven’t been many times when I’ve needed some information and not been able to find it in eFactory.” COO, Jens Voges, Gate Labs

“DCL had more modern tools and more of a growth-based, forward-looking business model than some other 3PLs we visited. It was clear that they are a company who is constantly improving, and looking for the next way they can grow their business, and that’s what we want in a partner.” Moxxly CEO, Cara Delzer
